Discount Calculator
Calculate a sale price, savings amount, and optional after-tax total.
final price after entered adjustments
- Discounted price
- $60.00
- You save
- $20.00
- Sales tax
- $0.00
- Shipping / fees
- $0.00
Formula used
Savings = original price × discount ÷ 100; sale price = original price − savings; total = sale price × (1 + tax ÷ 100).
Worked example
A 25% discount on an $80 item saves $20 and produces a $60 sale price before tax.
How to understand the result
The calculator applies the entered discounts and coupon first, then applies the entered tax rate and any shipping or fees. Actual taxable amounts and discount treatment vary by location and transaction.
Assumptions and limits
- Quick mode uses one discount percentage
- The model applies the entered tax rate to the price after discounts and coupon
- Advanced discounts are applied sequentially
- Jurisdiction-specific tax and coupon rules are not determined by the calculator
Frequently asked questions
Does the calculator stack multiple discounts?
Yes in Advanced mode. Discounts are applied sequentially because two 20% discounts are not the same as one 40% discount.
Why might a receipt total differ?
Local tax rules, taxable fees, rounding, deposits, and excluded items can change the final price.
